During this year's MIPCOM we announced a new deal for season one of the worldwide hit Poppy Cat. Taking on TV rights for all German-speaking territories is kid’s channel KiKA, owned by powerhouse broadcasters ARD and ZDF.
The Coolabi-made show, sold to over 100 territories worldwide, follows the playful cat with the big personality, along with her colourful companions, on inspiring adventures to amazing places. Poppy Cat’s imagination fuels each and every episode and when you’re with Poppy Cat, anything can happen. The preschool series is based on the international best-selling and award-winning books of the same name by Lara Jones.
The series has already been placed with Disney Junior in Spain and Latin America, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, e-vision (U.A.E), SVT (Sweden), S4C (Wales), EBS Korea, OKTO Singapore, Nickelodeon Australia, TVO (Canada), Knowledge Network (Canada), NRK (Norway), RTÉ (Ireland), CITV (UK) and France 5. As well as being a top-rated show on Sprout (U.S) and commissioning channel Nick Jr. (UK.)
Poppy Cat has also just been greenlit for a second season of 52 x 11 minute episodes, due for delivery Spring 2014. Proving this is still just the start of things to come for Poppy and her pals.
