When a scientific experiment goes wrong and all the adults disappear, the children are left alone and clueless as to what has happened. Confusion soon turns into jubilation as they realise the whole world is now their playground, and the usual, adult-enforced boundaries and constraints no longer exist.

However, to one group, thrown together by circumstance and christened the Sparticles, the situation is clearly fraught. Yes, it's fun now – and the kids are free to do whatever they want – but without adults, and with resources dwindling, sooner or later the world as they know will begin to break down. They know they must act before it is too late. They must find out what has happened to the adults.

But where have they gone? Could the mysterious Sparticle Project provide any clues? As the kids set off on an epic adventure across the UK to find missing grown-ups, they must face a world in disarray, with no rules, no law and no order, and where danger and peril could be lurking around every corner…
